ABOUT OUR ASSOCIATION
WRAAC Association (WA) was formed in 1977. Membership was around 85 and that seemed to be the average for most of the time.
The members were quite busy in the community in those days, raising funds for various purposes. They held Quiz Nights which seemed to be well attended, always Commemorated Corps Day, held Golf days - all sorts of things.
It has changed a bit now, though our membership has increased to over 100 and is growing steadily. No doubt, the reunion may have a little to do with that.
These days, we hold quarterly meetings, get together for regular lunches and with the age of technology, we are more able to keep up with our members regardless of the tyranny of distance, We still have a lot of our older members who we stay in touch with via 'snail mail'...... be they living the village lifestyle, in their own homes, in Aged Care facilities or in the regional areas - we try to keep everyone informed of what's happening.
Many of us are members of a local RSLWA Sub Branch, with quite a few holding an executive office, which is a great step forward.
We are involved with our Sister Services (Navy and Air Force), and in fact attend their respective functions and a Combined Services Annual Lunch. RAANC no longer has an Association here in WA, but we include them in all of our events.
We have included all former and current serving RAANC in the reunion plans. Current RAANC in Perth are ARES as there are no fulltime postings here; and there are no ORs. They are based at 13CSSB at Irwin Barracks, which is where 14WRAAC was based.
We have a number of events arranged, please take a look here:
